East Texas Living: The Clara Ida Frances Story
Janice Schma likes to tell the story of her childhood dream. For years, she dreamt of creating a fine mercantile store filled with goods that embody a sense of graceful living and rural charm.
After 30 years as one of Dallas' finest floral designers, Janice decided to go for it. She with her husband Peter purchased a dilapidated historic building on Main Street in Winnsboro, Texas. Together they transformed the 120 year old decaying relic into a community jewel. Designated in 2014 as the Texas Best Historical Renovation by the Texas Downtown Association, the long hours and hard work paid off. Clara Ida Frances, the dream, became a reality.
Inspired by the East Texas lake country lifestyle where culture and community is defined by howdy and a smile, Clara Ida Frances was designed as a mercantile for men and women who know the value of hard work, yet find hearty contentment in simply living well. Every item in our store is selected with care. From our quality men's and women's apparel to inspirational home decor, from an amazing array of "gotta have" gifts to the choicest of California wines and Texas cigars, Clara Ida Frances seeks to earn your trust and loyalty by providing an amazing shopping experience.
